Mission Moments
February 2024
Mr. Hart came to NeedLink Nashville in desperate need of assistance with his electricity deposit. He was displaced after a recent tornado destroyed his home, and he had completely depleted his savings replacing items lost in the storm. He recently found an apartment that he could afford, paid the security deposit, but needed a little help with the NES deposit. NeedLink Nashville was able to step in and take care of his deposit. He has now moved into his new home and is able to start rebuilding what he lost.
April 2024
Ms. Sager is a single mom with a teenager. She fell behind on her rent after losing her job due to a domestic violence situation. Additionally, she was still trying to catch up on her bills after her mother passed away earlier in the year. Her rent has already been reduced to a reasonable amount, allowing her to cover it until she can secure employment. However, she needed assistance with the balance accrued in order to be able to keep up with the rent going forward. NeedLink Nashville stepped in to assist with Ms. Sager’s rent, ensuring she could remain housed while searching for new employment.
May 2024
Around a year ago, Ms. Allen’s landlord sold her home and provided her with little notice. Unable to find an affordable home within the short timeframe given, she ended up homeless. After 7 months of being unhoused, she finally managed to secure an apartment but required nearly $2000 to facilitate the move-in process. Needlink Nashville, in collaboration with four other agencies and churches, stepped in to assist Ms. Allen in obtaining the necessary funds to establish stable housing.
June 2024
Mr. Banks is a disabled grandparent raising a young grandchild. When he was referred to NeedLink Nashville, he was on the verge of eviction due to his electricity being turned off and his account being closed. He was unable to keep up with his bill because it was so high each month. His apartment was in terrible condition, and one of his windows did not close properly, greatly increasing his bill each month. He is currently working with an attorney to get the landlord to fix the essential repairs to make his situation sustainable, but he had only two days to get his power back on or he would lose his Section 8 voucher. NeedLink Nashville was able to assist with a portion of his previous balance and pay a new deposit, enabling Mr. Banks to get his service turned back on, ensuring that he could keep his Section 8 voucher and remain in stable housing.
